MUNAP XXI will be an in-person, tech-enabled conference held at Walter Payton College Prep at 1034 N Wells St., Chicago, IL on February 21, 2026 from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.

POSITION PAPER SUBMISSION
Position papers may be submitted via email to your head chair or handed in on the day of the conference. Position papers are required for awards consideration at MUNAP XXI and are essential for proper preparation and research. Papers should be no more than one page per topic (excluding works cited). If you have any questions about your position paper, please contact your assigned head chair.
Submitting payments
The MUNAP XXI delegate fee is $25 per delegate with an additional $25 delegation fee. Late fees are $30 for both. Registered delegations will receive an invoice via email detailing their charges. In compliance with CPS policy, MUNAP XXI will only accept digital payments. For more detailed payment instructions, please refer to the Payment section (which can be found under the MUNAP tab) or the Payment Instructions section of your invoice.
GUEST SPEAKER
Valerie McMakin joined the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in 2025 and serves as Chief of Staff to the CEO & COO, working closely with senior leadership to advance the organization’s strategic priorities and strengthen its institutional impact. Her work supports executive initiatives that promote global understanding, informed dialogue, and civic engagement.
Prior to joining the Council, McMakin served as Chief of Staff for Congressional Relations at the United States Department of Agriculture, where she managed the Farm Bill legislative process and helped execute key departmental priorities, including rural economic development, advancing equity, addressing climate change, and building resilient food and supply chains. Earlier in her career, she worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant for Jon Tester, providing policy support on commerce, trade, and agriculture and contributing to the development of federal legislation.
McMakin holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and ethics from Emory University. She brings a strong background in federal policy, legislative strategy, and nonprofit leadership, offering delegates a practical and informed perspective on public service and global affairs.
